Shift schedules
Shifts define when an employee is expected to be at work. They drive late/overtime detection, payroll calculations, and roster planning.
Schedule types
Momentumpro supports three schedule patterns:
Fixed schedule
Same hours every weekday. E.g. Mon–Fri 09:00–17:00. Best for office staff.
Rotating shifts
Patterns that repeat over multiple weeks. E.g. Week A: Day shift, Week B: Night shift. Common in healthcare and security.
Custom calendar
Specific dates, useful for variable schedules (call centre, event staffing).
Setting an employee's schedule
- Go to People → Employees → [Employee] → Schedule.
- Pick a Shift pattern from the dropdown, or click Custom to define one.
- Set the Start date — when this schedule takes effect.
- (Optional) End date — leave blank for ongoing.
Creating a shift pattern (admin)
If the pre-built patterns don't fit:
- Go to Admin → Shift Patterns → New pattern.
- Name it (e.g. "Healthcare 4-day rotation").
- For each weekday or week-position, set:
- Start time, end time
- Break minutes (auto-deducted from work hours)
- Whether the day is a working day or rest day
- Save.
Shift overrides
Need to change one person's schedule for a day or week without rebuilding the pattern? Use shift overrides:
- Open the employee's schedule view.
- Click any day → Override.
- Set the new times for just that day.
The override appears in red on the calendar so it's obvious there was a change.
Holidays
Shifts respect the holiday calendar attached to the employee's work location. On a holiday:
- The shift is shown as Holiday (no late penalty).
- Hours worked are flagged as Holiday overtime in payroll.
Reports
The Attendance reports view shows:
- Daily attendance per employee
- Late / early / overtime totals per period
- Compliance with scheduled hours
